Project Update - March 2026

March 2026 Community Update

Welcome to our March 2026 update. This newsletter provides a snapshot of recent project progress, community initiatives, and upcoming engagement opportunities for the Goombi Renewable Energy Hub.

Goombi Wind Farm Supporting Active Seniors in Miles

At Goombi Wind Farm, we’re proud to support initiatives that strengthen the wellbeing and connection of local communities. Over the past year, we have been pleased to provide sponsorship funding to the Miles Senior Citizens group to support their exercise program for local seniors.

The program has become a valued activity for many participants, helping them build strength, improve balance and coordination, and reduce the risk of falls. Just as importantly, the regular classes provide an opportunity for seniors to stay socially connected, enjoy time together, and build confidence while working toward their personal fitness goals.

It’s been wonderful to see the positive impact the program has had on the participants and the broader Miles community. We would also like to recognise the dedication of local instructors Kain Old (Ascension Fitness), Rowena Gill (Pilates) and Jodie Prigg (Revolution Health and Fitness), who have supported the group with their expertise and encouragement throughout the year.

We’re proud to contribute to initiatives like this that help local communities stay active, connected and thriving.

Local Contractor and Supplier Opportunities

Goombi Renewable Energy Hub is pleased to promote local supplier and contractor opportunities in the region.

Local businesses are encouraged to complete our 2026 Wind Farm Capability Mapping Survey’. The survey is intended to support local and regional business participation by improving the visibility of local businesses during contractor procurement planning and ensuring they are considered early, prior to the finalisation of work packages. Following completion of the survey, work packages are anticipated to commence tendering towards the end of 2026 and early 2027.

Please access the link below and complete the survey to formally register your interest.

Cultural Heritage Management Plan

Prior to Christmas, we executed a Cultural Heritage Management Plan with the Iman #4 People. This represents a significant milestone for the Goombi Wind Farm Project, and we are delighted to be working with the Iman People to protect and enhance cultural and social values over the life of the project.

Project Update

Project activities continue to progress, a few of the recent highlights are below:

  • An EPBC Referral was submitted to the Federal Government in December 2025 and has been determined as a Controlled Action which means further assessment is required. Further assessments will be undertaken over the course of 2026 and a further submission made thereafter.

  • The Development Application is expected to be submitted to the State Government in the coming months, pending finalisation of technical reporting and agreement on a Community Benefits Agreement with Western Downs Regional Council.

  • We continue to meet and engage with project neighbours and the broader community – a reminder to any neighbours who are yet to return their Neighbour Benefit Agreement to please do so or reach out to the team.
